Password protect folders with Folder Guard for Windows Vista/XP/2000/x64

Folder Guard® is a powerful password protection software tool that you can use to make your private files and folders protected with passwords, and to control access to other Windows resources.

The easiest way to password-protect a folder with Folder Guard is by using its Quick Start Wizard, which is displayed automatically when you run Folder Guard for the first time:

Choose the folder you want to password-protect

The next page of the Quick Start Wizard asks you to select the folder to protect with password. You can enter the path to the folder you want to password-protect in the box, or press the Browse button and navigate to the folder to protect with a password:

Start to password protect folder

Enter a password to protect the folder

Next, choose the Lock the folder with a password option ond click on the Set up the Unlocking Password button to enter the password of your choice:

Choose a password

Enable the password protection

Now, you can ask Folder Guard to start protecting the folder right away, or you can run the Wizard again, if you want to protect another folder:

Enable the password protection of the folder

Finally, you can specify whether you want the protection to start automatically every time you restart the computer. If you are only evaluating Folder Guard, you may want o leave this option off for a while. If, however, you are going to start the protection "for real", turn this option on, to make sure the folder will be protected with password when some other user starts using your computer:

Auto-enable the password protection of the folder at Windows startup

There is another method of protecting a password with Folder Guard, by using the command of Folder Guard directly, without the help of the Quick Start Wizard. Please see the following web page from the User's Guide for information on how to do that:
